Tami Stark-McQueen
(Dance Educator/Choreographer/Dancer)
Tami has been studying, teaching, and performing dance for over 35 years. She holds a B.A. in Dance from UC, Santa Barbara, and an M.A. in Dance Therapy from UC, Los Angeles. She has studied with Lori Bryhni, Bill Evans, Bella Lewitsky, Loretta Livingston, and Betty Walberg, to name a few. Tami has performed with professional dance and theatre companies throughout California, including UC Santa Barbara Dance Repertory Company and Dancing Ear Repertory Company in Berkeley. From 2003-2006 Tami was the Arts in Education Outreach Coordinator for the Richard and Karen Carpenter Performing Arts Center in Long Beach, as well as served three years as a dance adjudicator for the Emerging Young Artists Awards. From 2006 to 2009 Tami ran and operated One Performing Arts Dance Center in Mission Viejo. In 2008, the City of Mission Viejo Cultural Arts Committee sponsored the 1st Annual UNITY Dance Project, which Tami created and organized. She continues to deepen her knowledge of dance and dance education by attending professional development workshops through Luna Dance Institute, for which she is an advanced summer Institute Alumnae. Tami has returned to the Central Valley, where she was born and raised, to continue creating dance and dance opportunities with the re-organization of One Performing Arts Center, Inc. Upon her return, she has also been a guest choreographer and dancer for the Modesto Junior College Resident Dance Company, Off Balance. She recently worked as an educational mentor for the vision series dance festival in San Francicso, and is currently studying for certification as a health coach through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition.
